Dear Karl Rove: Obama NOT Likely To Lose In 2012
Dear Karl,
I have finally decided to stop yelling at my computer screen and, instead, respond to your column. This is not the first of your columns that I felt to be in dire need of correction — however, going forward, I can promise it won’t be the last to which I directly respond.
Despite your wishful thinking to the contrary, Barack Obama is NOT likely to lose the 2012 election. You’re right, his numbers aren’t great because, duh, the economy that George W. Bush spent eight years ruining is taking more than a few years to clean up. Still, while you point out Obama’s less-than-glowing but still not that bad approval ratings, you fail to note the ridiculously dismal approval ratings for Republicans in Congress. In fact, Congressional approval ratings have dipped to an all-time low of 9%. Compared to that, the President looks like Mr. Popular, no?
In other words, yes, Americans are unhappy about the economy — as they should be — but they are not blaming the President remotely as much as they are blaming Congress, especially Republicans, nor greedy CEOs on Wall Street.
In other words, spin it however you like but the Republicans do NOT look likely to win in 2012 — not only because they don’t have a credible candidate in the race but because the President, in very unpopular political and economic times, is still much more popular than the Republicans or their agenda.
Better luck next time with the one-sided analysis.
Sincerely,
Sally

This lady is the worst, Obama wanted to take over after Bush, but yet still is using him as an excuse for his poor performance. Sally, please move to France.
Who are you to tell people to move out of the country because they don’t like republican chicanery? What a jerk.
you suck.
So grown up!
Please….you’re living in the NY bubble. Here in Ohio, I live in one of the most heavily Democrat counties. If they ran a dead cat on the ballot as a Democrat here, it would win. That being said, folks hate Obama. Those that voted for him will NOT do it again. They think he was all mouth and no action, which I agree with. I’ve been a life long Republican, and former White House staffer in the Bush 41 administration and am now retired. I have time to talk and listen to folks. Obama is gone in 2012 and you folks in the media and the left are lost in your echo chambers. Out here in the real USA, Obama gets no respect, has lost his blind followers for the most part, and thankfully will be out of the big house soon.
You, sir, are no doubt listening to the choir. The people I know who are unhappy with Obama but still would vote for him over a right wing reep. And lets face it, the good reeps have been co-opted by the right wing nuts that run the party now.
Oh, Sally, Sally,Sally…..enjoy it while you can. I predicted either Obama or McCain would be a one term president. I see nothing now that changes my mind. You assume the economy will be the same or better in 2012. It will be worse and the President will be a one-termer.
I wish you would just move to a country say China or Cuba then you would have the society you prefer instead of screwing up the USA you idiot
Uh, she is staying here to try to heal the damage done by the likes of you. If you want a dictatorship a la Bush & Rove, then actually China & Cuba are the perfect places for you!
Sally, thank you. It is predictable but disgusting nonetheless to see how the people commenting here are such transparent trolls. Good for you! You must have scared them badly. Ignore them as I know you will.
Just like a liberal to name-call without data to follow up…
Liberals name-calling? Have you forgotten your precious Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin & Michelle Bachmann? Or Karl Rove, Lee Atwater, or the many so-called christian republicans that have called us fags, witches, communists, baby-killers, etc.? Come on, go get your big panties on & grow up.
Obama should run as a Republican, since he shares their policy views.
That way, the Democrats could have a candidate who acts like a progressive populist, and the Republicans could have a candidate who acts like an adult.
LOL
Karl Rove’s reasons for stating President Obama’s likely one term in office is based on many things, none of which you either chose to acknowledge or menion in your letter Sally. I’m not gonna repeat or mention them again but if you read the Mr Rove’s articles you already know and you simply choose to ignore the basis of his claim. Nevertheless, whoever won the 2008 election was going to be likely to lose the 2012 election. If Obama was so smart he would’ve figured this out, and not let his ego get in his way in order to convince himself he was actually qualified for the job of President. We’d be much better off with President McCain right now, but he’d be facing a simular set of ratings and fate too. And once and for all the President extended the Bush tax cuts ( the right thing to do) so he owns them they’re now Obama tax cuts, and don’t run around the country claiming to hv a solution an blame your predecesor when the plan everyone told you wouldn’t work didn’t work. He owns the economy too, unless it turns around quickly he can’t win, if it gets worse he’ done.
Do any of you have any viable alternative? I mean someone who can actually win and will actually get the proper things done (a “conservative” or a “republican” will not do the proper thing). What I see is that all the people who did not vote for the guy trying to get others to think that Obama is the loosing ticket. It is a self fulfilling prophesy. Essentially, the anti-Obama crowd has always been that way. How are you going to get an Obama voter to vote for a “republican/conservative”? I mean if you would vote for Obama in the first place, that pretty much translates to a no go for any conceivable republican, and an independent cannot win.
Despite the huge amount of anti-Obama effort$, he is still likely to retain his position. If you think otherwise, propose an actual replacement that can actually win and will not be a con job. You cannot say the guy was ineffective and propose a republican. There are no “more effective” liberals or moderates. There are no republicans out there who are moderates that can actually win and will actually be “more effective.” It seems that republicans in general have wed themselves to the notion of being a “conservative.”
1 trillion dollar stimulus for what again? Still 8+ unemployment, not to mention under employed or those who have stopped working? Democrats will over spend and accomplish nothing this is proven over the last year. Facts are facts!
