5:30am on the way to #OccupyWallSt eviction
Riding the New York City subway at 5:30 am on a weekday is a radicalizing experience. Unlike 9:00 am when the trains are filled with middle class and upper middle class mostly white folks, headed to their good jobs with good or even great pay and reasonable work hours, the subway at 5:30 in the morning is filled with mostly black folks, most of them older — going to work at this ungodly hour not because they’re lazy but because this is all the work they can get.
The fact that black folks like those on this train get up earlier than white folks, on average nationwide commute longer and work later in life but are still disproportionately in dead end, low paying jobs is clearly not a function of laziness. No one on a subway train at 5:30 in the morning is lazy. They get up extra early find their seats in our broken system.
All the more reason to head to Zuccatti Park and defend the Occupy Wall Street eviction — for those who need justice but can’t get out of work.

Yes, I agree, so far the group has given me no idea as to what they want clearly. But they now approve of raising taxes to the rich. Sounds fine, but this will cause prices to continue going up. The rich are not just millionares but those who make up to $250,000. Those pertain to small businesses that will tumble with higher taxes. I believe the President should 1)Limit the amount CEO’s are given and the other amount put back into the company to prevent from having to layoff employees. This should become a LAW. 2) Regarding China, bring back business and production to the US. Perhaps offer lower taxes to the companies that produce here in the US. This WILL bring back jobs. Yet, Mr. Pres. sees China demanding on him for example to hurry up and start to cut down on the regular lightbulbs of today and begin to sell the new energysaving styles they are producing. Weren’t we supposed to be producing our own for more jobs? What happened there. The same for the windmills, being produced in China. This has to stop. He wants work, produce it here in the USA. This is what the group should be alerting. But I wonder if they are aware? Someone in the media should ask them about this and what they think.
