I wonder how you get around class envy’s moral hazard.
To illustrate, I’m envious of you because you have 100 times more money than me. Give me lots of your money, and I’ll stop being envious. Why should you? To stop my envy, of course, which is bad for society. That’s social justice, after all.
See the moral hazard? Probably not. After all, envy is now virtue, not vice.
I’ll depart with this warning, then: As the wealth gap narrows, marginal differences between individuals become more, not less, significant and provocative of envy. All animals are equal, except some are more equal than others.
