Here’s the audio from my heated debate with Michelle Malkin about civility on Sean Hannity’s radio show today:

It gets especially juicy toward the end.

  1. David says:

Michelle took you to school. You talk about hyperboles, the left are the worste at it. No one does more hyperboles and personal attacks more than liberals.

    • Spectricide says:

I laugh in your general direction.

    • Realist says:

David’s right. Sally, you got owned. …and you need to get owned on a regular basis to convince you that redistribution is NOT the AMERICAN way.

    • Gene says:

      FAIL.

12:45 onwards is FASCINATING and SAYS EVERYTHING:

Kohn agrees about insane discourse on the LEFT but Hannity AND this vile Malkin character CAN”T- SIMPLY CAN”T- admit the same on the RIGHT.

Un-fu*king-believable…. Their true colours are revealed: VILE POLITICAL PARTISAN HACKS.

Also, someone send Hannity to Sweden (which isn’t even socialist) to get a HINT of what it is because he clearly has NO CLUE.

      • It makes it impossible to listen to anymore. I can barely make it through this clip. And to think I used to listen to Hannity every day. Just got sick of the same old tactics and the same old list of old news he brings up with any liberal that dares to be on his show.

    • DesertRose1960 says:

Sally, I’d never heard of you until today. I think you got l jumped and mugged by an idiot and one of the most vile, vicious, toxic vipers known to humanity, Michelle Malkin. You talked about policies and she went to an immediate, sanctimonious personal attack. You were shown what “playing fair” means to the Right. I think you did okay, but you just proved what we’re up against and I’m sure you will be the one condemned for being “uncivil” when you weren’t, even when responding to their incivility.

  2. Martin says:

You must be joking. Have you ever seen the comments that people leave at Breitbart and Fox Nation? I’ve never seen such racist and sexist hatred. Each side has their kooks, but there’s no contest here.

  3. John says:

Sally, we do agree on one point: you are indeed a “naive idealist” (your words, not mine).

    • Realist says:

John’s correct and echoes my thought when I heard you say it.

As P.T. Barnum once said, ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, please step this way to see the egress’. ..and before you knew, you just stepped out of the building! Sally, please step this way to see the egress!

  4. Alex says:

My 2 cents in no particular order.

    - Hannity tried to distract from the issue of personalized attacks to demonizing Obama. Over and over throughout the interview.

    - Michelle Malkin didn’t want to accept Sally’s apology for an time she might have “crossed the line” because it would make her look bad by comparison because she doesn’t know the words “I’m Sorry.”

    - I just heard Hannity groan when Sally said she believes in America and thinks we can disagree with each other. WTF!

-Michelle Malkin makes her living being snarky and bitchy and would lose 99% of her followers if she wasn’t. She’s psychologically and financially trapped in that persona.

    - My own experience is that the radical right see anything other than all out attack as weakness. I too have been accused of being smug, coy and fake when trying to reign in my anger and be reasonable and rational.

    - You’re a better woman than I, Sally, for even trying.

    • Ed Denn says:

Michelle Malkin took Sally to the proverbial woodshed – and rightfully so as Sally not only met her match, she got aced. Sally’s specialty is sanctimonious drivel and it was a (n almost painful) pleasure to hear her get hers. I could easily envision her wide eyes and gaping mouth. What a hoot!

      • DesertRose1960 says:

So, from what you’re saying, any attempt at civility or reminding people to be civil is “sanctimonious drivel”. Michelle Malkin was rude and vicious, it’s just what she does. Should you be nice to her, yes, because it’s the right and moral thing to do. Will that make her mad and even more vicious in her personal attacks and disgusting behavior? Probably. It’s okay, though, she should show everybody just what she really is.

      • Sally is polite. Michelle bulldozes. I would nail Malkin to the wall in a debate because I would not TOLERATE her methods.

    • bob says:

omg wtf I wish liberals were older so they wouldn’t be stupid like you alex

  5. JGalt says:

Sally, I hope you’re taking some time to think about what Michelle said. Now, I don’t think it was very fair of Sean to constantly interrupt you while letting Michelle have her monologues, but even in a fair debate you would have had no position! You had literally nothing of substance to say, and your terrified backtracking and desperate attempt to head Michelle off with platitudes about civil discourse fell so flat you could cut them up and shingle a roof.

You tried to write a sneering smear column about Michelle and she had the nerve, the temerity, to actually call you out on it, and you had nothing to say in return. Just like any Leftist, when challenged to actually defend your positions and ideas, you draw a blank. When rational-minded, thinking individualists come up against collectivists, they always come out ahead.

Now, I applaud you for what I personally feel was a heartfelt apology. It is Michelle’s prerogative to accept or reject, however, and I think a retraction article, or at least a followup where you actually point to… well, ANY examples of comparative incivility on the right, would be useful.

However, I expect you will simply take this as an excuse to talk about the mean, hateful Sean and Michelle who gave you a huge audience (versus your, shall we say, miniscule following) to defend yourself. That you blew it so badly is simply proof that you have nothing but politically correct invective to offer on a public stage.

  6. Doug Brown says:

Listening to Michelle Malkin get all worked up into a lather and then begin using that tone of voice that is a thinly veiled “screw you I hope you get into a car wreck” made my hand quiver a little because I wanted to just slap her for being so sanctimonious and… her words just dripping with disgust (“you are a coward… I take responsibility for everything I’ve said or written” (as if Sally ws trying to back-pedal from something, and Michelle just wasn’t gonna let her do it! Even though Michelle was imagining things)” as Sally tries to be calm and reasonable, and discuss what the original issue related to, namely, civility and a lack there of which has been escalating.

It is very easy to dredge up all of the things that conservatives have said about the president prior to him taking office and it continues to this day, with a fervor that is a little unsettling.
Socialist, Communist, Muslim, enemy of America, traitor, and various combinations of them all.

And what is it that “the left” says about conservative women, some of whom believe that there place is in the kitchen and that women should not be allowed to vote and that companies should’ve be legally bound to pay women equally… ?

Saying that Ann Romney hasn’t “worked a day in her life” is true if you’re asking whether or not she has earned wages and has something in Social Security… but the point is that SHE DOESN’T HAVE TO WORK, and that’s an option that isn’t available to most American women.

An then there is Sean… oh, Sean. Obama gave us $5 trillion in debt? Yeah,, maybe because part of that is the result of putting the wars on the books. And another part of that might be due to the near-collapse of the economy and efforts at recovery… but if recovery is something that isn’t worth taking on some debt for then I guess you’re. I guess it would be preferable to have the economy completely collapse or limp along as long as it’s under the watch of a democrat president.
What else, health care… I get Sean hasn’t been denied health insurance because of pre-existing conditions, and I would guess that his children haven’t either. I would also guess that Sean has ever had to file bankruptcy because of health care bills after a sickness.
Sean has probably also never been “priced out” of his health care insurance once he got sick.
He probably also doesn’t consider that our system is twice as expensive when compared international, and that, we also don’t have the best results overall. That should be shocking to anyone that looks at it honestly.
He also, probably, does not consider the effect that Baby Boomers will begin having on costs for all people… as demand goes up so will cost.

The GM bail-out… the second larger employer in the country, the largest automobile manufacturer in the world… but let’s let it go under so we can prove our “free market, economic Darwinnist” chops… nevermind the hundreds of thousands of jobs that would be impacted. And now they’ve paid in full, and we still have an American brand that is known around the world.

“Obama said that Bush was unAmerican”, why because Bush raised the debt by trillions in paying for an illegal war in Iraq, while cutting taxes, and passing the Medicare drug bill… and all of it was unfunded, as in, not paid for by offsets or anything?
Sean thinks Obama’s “unAmerican” simply for being president!

The examples that conservatives use to defend their conviction that they are “the ones under attack” by a “mean and vicious liberal machine” is a flight of imagination and has no real solid fact that bears any comparison to what conservatives have been saying and doing since Obama got inaugurated. I guess Sean and Michelle don’t know about the 4-hour dinner attended by top republicans to discuss how they were going to block everything Obama tried to do, to some that might be called a conspiracy, to others it might be called unAmerican to block economic recovery.

And I also don’t think Sean understands what real socialism actually is… otherwise he wouldn’t use it so freely and without qualm. “Caring” about society and the welfare of people is not socialism (it might be to a person that believes that we should live in a dog-eat-dog world though), unless you are willing to call the U.S. military socialistic- socialized medicine, socialized paychecks and benefits, socialized housing and funding for housing.

If Sean thinks that trying to make life better for people on the bottom is socialism, then I guess he’s right, but it would also be happen to be Christian too.

    • Jim Jones says:

So Doug, you got all quivery and weird because of something you “imagined” Michelle was saying? You are a typical example of the Left – everything about you is imaginary! Lol!

    • Socal71 says:

Typical liberal coward … I don’t know what’s worse hitting a woman or talking about doing it on an internet forum. You sir are a loser Doug and Sally go back to waiting tables you bring nothing to the table except my food.

    • DG says:

Which Soros operation do you work for anyway? I’d debunk nearly every point you make.

I hate the GOP as much if not more than the DNC. The DNC/GOP Complex got us in this mess. I don’t play Left vs. Right hogwashed games.

Right vs. Wrong. And you Doug are wrong by omission. What you left out of your Progressive diatribe would take weeks to illuminate to you.

The GOP sucks more than the DNC because I expect the nonsense from Democrats. I naively believed the GOP were the grown ups. They are both responsible for the derivatives time bomb to the tune of $250 TRILLION owned by the top 9 financial institutions in the US.

That’s why we have ZIRP. Anyone with half a brain knows if the Fed were to raise interest rates it would wipe out the shareholders at said financial institutions. Meanwhile senior citizens truck down to their local branch at receive 0.10% on a Certificate of Deposit.

Tell me again who is STICKING IT to Senior Citizens? The Fed, Treasury Dept. and the policies of this Administration and the last two Administrations. This whole racket started under Bubba.

  7. BCL says:

Guess you won’t do that anymore. LMAO!

Michelle tore you a new one on radio. And I hear you laughing in the background while Michelle was talking. Real classy.

I would change my name and move to Siberia after that if I were you. Dang.

  8. Brian says:

I thought you did great today Sally. I listen to neo-con radio when the SF Giants are on my favorite station, and the whole talk over the guests by the host and placating to his favorite just reinforced why I don’t listen to neo-con “read whatever the heritage foundation told me to say on the radio today” bs.

  9. Referring to someone as “he” or “she” when they are present is impolite. Michelle Malkin needs to go back to finishing school to learn basic manners.

    • TJ Efferson says:

uummmm…In Sally’s case, isn’t it possible that the “he or she” reference might be appropriate???

  10. LOVE how Hannity interrupts your EXCELLENT points to repeat the same crap he says EVERY single day on his radio show and then again at night on FOX News. I KNOW this because I used to listen to both his radio show and TV show for 3 and a half year. That man NEEDS NEW MATERIAL! He DRIVES ME CRAZY!

  11. Ed says:

Stop! 10,000 DIFFERENT Liberals have called Malkin “Racist chink cunt”, in public, on Twitter.

There is no comparison between today’s VILE Left and most of the right.

I know being disillusioned takes courage, but try.
Life is too short to go through it deluded.

  12. Trapper says:

Just admit you got whipped up on and try to see things a little different. But of course as a liberal, you think that it is alright for the left to do as they do, and only the right should play nice.

  13. Carlton says:

    Is this it? 25 responses?

  14. DG says:

Michelle Malkin was “dead on balls” accurate.

To Sally Kohn’s assertions and insinuations etc I say this: Blasphemy. Come on Sally. If you want to insult our intelligence then that is your prerogative. You are entitled to your own opinions but you are not entitled to your own FACTS.

Michelle Malkin is THE MOST TRUSTWORTHY SOURCE in American politics; Perhaps the most trusted source in my 4 decades on this planet.

You on the other hand are a disingenuous political water girl. Carry water for your ‘people’ but don’t you DARE expect us to drink it.

Grow up. Under your thinly veiled bipartisan nature seems to be someone with promise. I won’t hold my breath.

  15. TJ Efferson says:

Sally…Bless your heart. You are the most misguided moron I’ve ever heard. Nope…that’s not hyperbole. Any rational person who believes in Capitalism and American exceptionalism can see that you are intellectually challenged. In the interest of giving you the benefit of the doubt, I will attribute your unsupported claims and accusations to a failure of the education system in America. Anyone capable of reading and writing can immediately identify you as a Leftists ideologue. We actually do have a club here on the right that notifies us when either you or Tamera Holder are going to be on the air. To the informed public, both of you help the Conservative cause when you are on the air, primarily due to your disdain for anything factual or truthful in your Media Matters prepared talking points. Even though we think you are dangerous…we all like a good belly laugh…and know that only those on the extreme left take anything you say seriously at all. Have a great day and let us know where you immigrate to in November when the Nation kick’s BOs butt to the curb…

  16. Patrick says:

Well, I loved that you have posted this on your website. You tried to remain civil and carry on an intelligent conversation and Malkin and Hannity (really just the same person in both a female and male persona) kept tried to engage you to come out swinging. Malkin defended herself of not being “shrill” and filled with “hysterical hyperbole”…and then dipped right into that extreme personality of hers. Also, I don’t know what the hell she was accusing the “other side” of using “Brass knuckle politics”. Every time I can endure a few minutes of Murdock’s media empire or extremist conservative talk radio, THEY pull out the brass knuckles of debate and come out swinging without regards to facts and reality. Hanity would be the worst offender in using heaping amounts of vitriol, with his consistent claims that Obama is the “worst President of all time”. (He says it enough and his herd of listeners believe that crap.) I can really only handle him for a small dose of 2 minutes before the dial is switched!

Sally, keep doing what you do and putting up a good fight to defend yourself and your opinions. There are many out here who completely agree with you!

  17. Khazeem says:

The only mistake Sally made was going on that show to talk about something of common sense and civility. As a business owner, I use to lean towards the Republicans until President Obama ran for office and I watched all the Conservatives host that use to criticize Bush, actually push their listeners and readers to vote for more Bush-like policies in Senator McCain. It was at that point that I realized that common sense and what is good or bad is not really what drives them, nor their readers – it’s HATE, OPPOSITION, and CONFRONTATION!

Once you have people that are stricken with the disease of “hate”, there is no common ground in which peace can be found with them. It does not exist. They don’t want peace. They don’t want civility. Honestly, they don’t “want” anything. They are driven by a “need”. They need chaos (and that is not a smear, it is a fact), they need social and political crisis after crisis.

They live by exaggerating the views and words of their precieved opposition. They are devoid any sense of morals as they can twist and reword the statements of their precieved opposition and push it off as being “news” after they edit it. Sometimes, more often than not, they just simply lie to the people about what is being said or done by their precieved opposition. And they do so with a straight face. I have listened to statements made by the President and have actually observed how they (on the right and the left) twist and re-define the President’s words. It is sad that this is what America has become.

So my advice to Sally and people who think that there is room for civility with these people is an old saying: If you want peace, prepare for war. These people, on either side be they extreme Conservatives or Liberals will not stop until WE THE PEOPLE stop them. And to do that, we must first be honest with ourselves as to what they really are and what their agendas really are. Judge a tree by the fruit it gives. Think about it.
